🎓THROWBACK 🖋 . . Memory Lane. Around this time in 2010. Day of graduation. 4 years of Law. I received the highest mark in the university’s history for my dissertation on the effects of solitary confinement but I felt like a failure, I had wet eyes in the cathedral wondering how to tell my parents I didn’t want to be a lawyer anymore. . Ironically, I’d spent my final year in self imposed solitary. Until I started my business I’d never worked so hard in my life. I was consumed by a desire to put down in words the experiences of the men on death row whose stories I’d researched during a long summer working at a law firm in Virginia. . I realised then that detachment is a concept to me, whether academic or professional I’m led primarily by emotional responses to external theories and stimulus. . . I wanted to use my fascination with people and their stories in a different way. A lighter way. I wanted to create homes that told their stories. That would be the backdrop to fond memories. . .
